Nandi-Ndaitwah Calls for Unity at SWAPO Meeting

Africa-Press – Namibia. PRESIDENT of the SWAPO Party, Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, called for a decisive majority across all constituencies and warning that weak representation hampers service delivery. She delivered her maiden address to the party’s Central Committee since her election as president in March 2025, urging unity, discipline, and strong support ahead of the upcoming regional and local authority elections.

Speaking at the official opening of the Central Committee meeting at Gateway Centre in Windhoek, Nandi-Ndaitwah expressed gratitude to the party leadership and membership for entrusting her with the responsibility to lead SWAPO. She said the meeting was not merely routine but a constitutional obligation where members refine the party’s vision and recommit to its mandate.

Highlighting SWAPO’s renewed governance mandate following the 2024 presidential and national assembly elections, Nandi-Ndaitwah reminded members that Namibians will once again go to the polls on 26 November 2025 to elect regional and local authority representatives.

“The people of Namibia deserve better. A vote for the SWAPO Party is a vote for progress, accountability, and service delivery without delay. It is no longer business as usual,” she said.

Nandi-Ndaitwah stressed that the party’s election commitments are aligned with the Sixth National Development Plan (NDP6), launched in July 2025, and assured members that the administration remains committed to implementing its manifesto. She praised cabinet members for being hands-on and said her recent visits to regions reflected government’s resolve to unite the people and drive development.

The president also addressed internal grievances that have surfaced during the candidate selection process, cautioning against indiscipline and urging strict adherence to the party constitution, code of conduct, and rules.

“Petitions born out of indiscipline or self-serving weaken the party and erode the trust of the Namibian people. We must safeguard the dignity of our party, protect its legacy, and inspire confidence that SWAPO remains the reliable custodian of Namibia’s future,” she said.

On international matters, Nandi-Ndaitwah reaffirmed SWAPO’s principles of solidarity, freedom, and justice, voicing support for Palestine, Western Sahara, Cuba, Venezuela, and Zimbabwe, while condemning Israel’s recent actions in Qatar as violations of sovereignty and international law.

She concluded by officially declaring the Central Committee meeting open, calling on members to remain vigilant and united in delivering quality service to Namibians.
