Nedbank unveils new campus building

Africa-Press – Namibia. NEDBANK Namibia yesterday inaugurated its new environmentally friendly building in Windhoek.

Officiating at the inauguration on Tuesday, president Hage Geingob said other corporate companies and institutions should emulate Nedbank by promoting environmentally friendly buildings that would promote the development of the country.

“The World Green Building Council, through its website, states that one of the most important benefits green buildings offer is to our climate and the natural environment. Green buildings cannot only reduce or eliminate negative impacts on the environment, by using less water, energy or natural resources, but they can also, in many cases, have a positive impact on the environment by generating their own energy or increasing biodiversity,” he said.

The president further said, “We recognise that the Nedbank campus is not only a symbol of the institution’s confidence in our economy, but also a clear demonstration of Nedbank’s commitment towards the protection and preservation of Namibia’s environment.

“I encourage other institutions to follow suit and make Windhoek a hub for innovative and environmentally friendly architecture.”

Martha Murorua, the managing director of Nedbank, said the N$485 million building would bring change in the city and make a difference in the environment.

“The investment into our campus building is not only good for our environment, but also offers better control to the development and governmental environment, better health and productivity will enable us to grow and develop our staff, as well as encourage unity and excellent collaboration,” she said.
