New chapter for Kgosiemang leadership legacy

Africa-Press – Namibia. The Botswana ba Namibia community has installed Andrew Kgosiemang, son of the community’s previous traditional leader, Constance Kgosiemang, as its chief.

The former chief Kgosiemang died in 2012. The installation of his son as traditional leader of the Batswana people in Namibia ends close to nine years of bickering in the community, after various sections could not agree on a rightful successor to the traditional leadership.

In his acceptance speech, Kgosiemang said he is ready to serve all members of his clan, regardless of their affiliation. He said he believed firmly in the unity of a nation as it strived to develop itself and would do his best to advance such goals.

Traditional praise singing, cultural dances and other traditional performances rounded up the chief’s coronation. Kgosiemang was adorned in a leopard skin, an honour solely bestowed on distinguished leaders of the Batswana, as he officially assumed his new leadership role.
