Africa-PressNamibia. CAR rental owners in the north who made their vehicles available for a mapping exercise are demanding an outstanding bill of half a million Namibian dollars from Profile Investment Holdings, a business owned by tender magnet, Vaino Nghipondoka.

Nghipondoka, on his part, blamed the outstanding fees on the failure of the Namibian Statistics Agency (NSA), which he claims still has not paid up after his business carried out the Mapping and Pilot Census from last year to this year.

As a result of the nonpayment by the NSA, added Nghipondoka, the matter is currently in court, but that his business is in the process of settling all outstanding fees for the hired vehicles.

Car rental owners claim that Profile owes them a combined N$500 000, with a last payment in January this year, despite an initial agreement that they would be paid monthly for the car usage. The car rental owners further claim that Profile still owes them money for February, March and April after an extension was granted.

Sylvia Nghilalulwa, one of the disgruntled car rental owners, said the contracts for motor vehicles expired six months ago, but that they have not receive their full payments for the services rendered.

She added that some vehicles were damaged in the process, while others were written off. “We need the full payment of the outstanding balance for both the services rendered and the damages on our motor vehicles,” said Nghilalulwa.

She added that if by the end of next week the payment is not made, then they will have no choice but to demand that the outstanding balance be paid with a 10% interest every month. Nghipondoka, however, insists that they have started paying off some of their creditors with the little money they have.
