Africa-Press – Namibia. THE Ministry of Health and Social Services has announced the ceasing of free Covid-19 tests for students studying in the Southern African Development Community (SADC) region and for citizens travelling within the region as of 13 April.

This decision, the ministry stated, was made against the background that SADC travel is possible for fully vaccinated individuals as Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) testing is no longer a prerequisite.

Unvaccinated students and citizens who intend to travel to SADC countries should therefore get tested at their own cost at any of the 21 authorised Covid-19 testing laboratories available countrywide.

The ministry further stated that, with the exception of the referred group of students, all existing arrangements and requirements for free testing for students remain unchanged. Photo for illustrative purposes only.
