Africa-Press – Namibia. THE Namibian Police Force Inspector-General Joseph Shikongo has expressed dismay over the involvement of some police officers in politics.
Speaking during the closing of the Senior Command Conference on Friday in Ongwediva, Shikongo said that any police officers engaging in politics will be dealt with, and no stone will be left unturned.
“It is disturbing to hear police officers getting involved in politics when they are supposed to serve all Namibians equally,” he said.
He added that it is equally important for officers to remain apolitical in all their endeavours.
Shikongo emphasized that the Namibian Police Force has always been, and must remain, a bastion of impartiality and fairness.
“Our duty is to serve and protect every citizen with equal respect, regardless of their political affiliations or personal beliefs,” he said.
He urged officers to remain steadfast in their pledge to uphold these principles, as they are the bedrock of public trust and confidence in their institution.
