Africa-Press – Namibia. ABOUT 51 learners from Onashue Combined School got a new full set of school uniforms.
The uniforms which is donated by Pep store and Omulunga Radio is valued at about N$10 000.
The school uniform included new school shoes, socks, T-shirts, trousers, skirt and Jerseys.
Speaking at the official handover, Oshana governor Elia Irimari, said he was touched by the noble initiative from the two respective institutions.
He added that this is being done to meet the government half way in creating a conducive and comfortable environment for the learners during their educational journey.
“We live in societies where children have no proper school attires and many have to brace the cold winter days without jerseys,” he said.
Irimari added that they have seen the critical conditions of the children from underprivileged homes.
According to him, this detrimental situation of learners is disheartening, and indeed one of the pressing challenges in the communities.
“It is evident that education is the promise to achieving and sustaining out economic development,” he added.
Thus, Irimari noted that it is crucial that they support the future generation to drive Namibia’s economic growth and bring about the prosperity of the people need and deserve.
Pep Store General Manager Jakkie Coetzee said the aim was to make sure that the children get a sense of pride and know where they belong.
Coetzee said that their customers made it possible for them to ensure that they look at assisting a Namibian child.
