Africa-Press – Namibia. THE Ondangwa Town Council has successfully raised over N$670 000 for the upcoming trade fair held at the northern town annually.

During a gala dinner held on Saturday, Rani Group of Companies pledged the highest amount of N$110 000, with other big sponsors including Red Force with a sponsorship of N$100 000, First National Bank and ALV Consulting Engineering each pledged N$50 000.

The 10th Ondangwa Expo is scheduled to take place in the Ondangwa Trade Fair Center from May 2023 and will be held under the theme: “A decade of continuous business support and Innovation.”

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of International Relation and Cooperation, Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah said together, they can transform Ondangwa into a place where people can grow.

Nandi-Ndaitwah said Ondangwa must develop from a transit hub to a place where people want to live and invest.

“We all understand the value of exhibitions, no matter their scale, for the advancement of both the economy and culture,” she added.

Exhibitions, according to Nandi-Ndaitwah, are vital for driving innovation and bringing about the conditions necessary for job development.

Nandi-Ndaitwah stated that she thinks the exhibition will urge SMEs to look for chances for expansion in their businesses because they are crucial for economic growth and development, as well as motivate young people to take measured risks and begin realizing their business ideas.

Town’s Mayor Paavo Amwele said it is essential that they conduct events of this kind because their town’s mission is to promote economic growth and development.

By doing so, Amwele said they can raise money to provide opportunities for local SMEs to connect and thrive.
