One of eight Ondangwa Police Station escapees rearrested

Africa-Press – Namibia. The police in the Oshana region have reported that a detainee who escaped from holding cells at Ondangwa on Sunday evening has been captured.

Oshana police spokesperson Thomas Aiyambo says a charge of escaping from lawful custody has been registered against murder suspect Gideon Nashilongo (27).

Nashilongo was arrested on Wednesday morning at Oshikango, and is due to appear in court on Friday,

He is alleged to have been one of eight detainees who escaped from Ondangwa Police Station during Sunday night by cutting open the roof of the cells in which they were kept.
