Africa-Press – Namibia. Ongwediva MediPark hospital managing director Tshali Iithele has been axed from his position, the chairperson of the hospital’s board of directors, Riël du Toit, said this week.

In a message to hospital employees on Thursday, Toit said Iithete was dismissed after a disciplinary hearing which started in 2018. He said after the disciplinary hearing Iithete was found guilty of fraud, dishonesty, gross negligence and charges relating to non-disclosure of interest, and he was subsequently dismissed as managing director of the hospital.

Asked about his dismissal, Iithete said he would comment once an internal process has been “exhaustively finalised”. Du Toit also said although Iithete was no longer employed by Ongwediva MediPark, he retained admission rights and could still use the hospital.

The hospital’s board has appointed Sakeus Kamati as hospital manager. Iithete is the personal physician of founding president Sam Nujoma and Uukwaluudhi chief Josia Shikongo Taapopi, among others.
