Africa-Press – Namibia. CUSTOMERS of Ongwediva will from July receive their monthly municipal bills through SMS or email. Town spokesperson Jackson Muma said they want to shift to electronic methods, doing away with the traditional method of printing municipal bills and dispatching it per mail.

“All registered accountholders should expect to receive electronic bills via their devices by 1 July,” he said.

According to Muma, a team of council staff members will collect consumer data, personal details of property owners who have accounts with the town council, for updates on the system.

He said members will be identifiable with distinct security features. They will visit individual properties from 1 March to 31 May to collect all the needed details.

“Extra caution should be taken by individual property owners not to fall prey to people pretending to collect personal contact details on behalf of the Ongwediva Town Council,” he said.

Muma called on property owners to visit their office and update contact details to receive monthly municipal accounts timely, at the tip of their fingers and in their comfort zone.
