Oshikoto community treated to early Christmas pleasantries

Africa-Press – Namibia. CHRISTMAS is a time of sharing and spending quality time with loved ones, a luxury many people don’t have.

Hence, the Oshikoto Regional Governor in collaboration with the Watyako Foundation hosted a Christmas Festivity for vulnerable communities in the Okankolo and Nehale Lya Mpingana.

The festival was held at Onatuwe No.1 village in Okankolo Constituency, where they handed over parcels of food, reusable clothes, wheelchairs as well as sanitary pads for vulnerable school-going girls at the value of more than N$90 000.

Oshikoto governor, Penda Ya Ndakolo said Christmas is a time of goodwill and sharing, however not everybody has the pleasure and joy to enjoy Christmas because of the circumstances they find themselves in.

Ya Ndakolo indicated that for those without families especially orphans and vulnerable children, the festive season is a difficult period.

“I am happy to join you as we gather to promote and support our vulnerable children and the elderly during the festive season,” he added.

Ya Ndakolo indicated that because of their goodwill, they were able to share a meal with everyone able and also provide them with Christmas Gifts to go share with your loved once the festive season is over.

The Foundation further donated fruit trees, Mahangu seeds, and other seeds aimed at promoting food sustainability in these communities. Meanwhile, the Office of the Regional Governor also donated 100 blankets to the said communities, worth N$27 500.

The Watyako Foundation is a Namibian non-profit organization, founded in 2020, with the key objective to assist less privileged communities in Namibia.
