Africa-Press – Namibia. CYRIL Moller is in Qinhuangdao, China, looking to pave the way for more Namibians to make it to the World Heyball Masters.

Namibia’s top pool player is competing in the Chinese Eight-ball Championship, which started on Monday and concludes on 6 April.

He is among the world’s best players invited by the International Heyball Pool Association to compete for honours.

“It’s a great privilege that was bestowed upon me being invited by the International Hayball Association to partake in the grand finale of the Chinese eight-ball competition,” Moller said before departing for the competition on Saturday.

“I will be playing against 64 competitors. We are all the number one players in our countries. So, it will definitely be a tough 20-day competition,” he said.

Along with Moller is namesake Cyril van Rooi, who will attend the event in his capacity as interim president of the Namibia Pool and Billiards Federation (NPBF).

Moller is confident and determined that he will be at his best in China.

“I’ve been preparing by practising a lot against the Coastal Warriors from Swakopmund. I believe I’m up to shape. The only obstacle I’m facing is the Chinese eight-ball, the tables are a little bigger and the rules are a bit different,” Moller said of his chances.

“But I believe that with all the support and blessings I’ve received so far, I will, pave a way for the Namibian people.”

Moller’s participation was made possible by the following sponsors: Celtic Pool Club, Alettas Uniform and Sportsware, Gregs Liner, Clutch and Brake Supplies, McClunes Shuttle Services, Dr Kock Dental Practice, WVB Stevedoring, Camtech Security, Metcalfe and Beukes Attorneys, ML Trading, Namibia Gaming & Moola, Oshisho Trust, NPBF management and all supporters.
