Africa-Press – Namibia. Several executive directors (EDs) have been transferred or reassigned in the public service, effective tomorrow.

This follows approval by Prime Minister Elijah Ngurare on the recommendation of the Public Service Commission.

The announcement was made by Secretary to Cabinet Emilia Mkusa.

Mkusa explained that these changes are part of ongoing efforts to enhance public service delivery and administrative leadership.

“These transfers are aimed at strengthening administrative leadership in key ministries and ensuring continuity of service delivery. We are confident that the appointed executive directors will continue to uphold the highest standards of professionalism in their new roles,” said Mkusa.

Among the noticeable changes was the reassignment of seasoned executive director Audrin Mathe, who was moved from the information portfolio to justice and labour. Mathe, a former New Era CEO and NBC executive, previously served as ED in the ministry of youth and sport.

Mkusa also noted that an acting executive director will be appointed at MICT to fill the vacancy left by Mathe.

Another key transfer is that of Ben Nangombe, who was just moved from the health portfolio to that of mines and energy less than three months ago.

Nangombe has not lasted at the ministry after being shifted to the Office of the Prime Minister, this time without any executive powers.

Additionally, Nghidinua Daniel moves from the ministry of justice to the ministry of home

affairs.

In addition to the transfers, several EDs have been assigned or reassigned accounting responsibilities.

Bigger ministries were assigned two Eds.

One such is the ministry of education, where Erastus Mbumba Haitengela will now be responsible for innovation, youth, sports, arts and culture.

Meanwhile, Gerard Vries will take charge of sport, youth and national service within the same ministry.

Similarly, Ndiyakupi Nghituwamata remains at agriculture and land reform, while Teofilus Nghitila will oversee water and marine resources, both under the same ministry.

Furthermore, Moses Pakote will now serve as the ED in the Ministry of Industries, Mines and Energy. Mkusa took a moment to thank Etienne Maritz, who retires from public service today, for his years of dedicated service.

“I take this opportunity to thank Etienne Maritz for the excellent service he rendered during his time as a public servant. His contribution is highly valued,” she said.
