Africa-Press – Namibia. THE Namibian police seized 10 270g of cocaine powder worth over N$5 million on New Year’s day.
The Cocaine was reportedly found hidden in a 44-year-old South African man’s luggage, who was coming from Brazil to deliver drugs allegedly in Okahandja.
This makes it the largest bust of the year.
Police spokesperson Deputy Commissioner Kauna Shikwambi said a case of dealing in cocaine powder is being investigated by police.
Shikwambi said the suspect was caught at the Hosea Kutako International Airport by customs officials while searching his luggage.
This follows after the officials discovered through the scanner the suspected drugs, concealed in the luggage.
“The suspect was consequently requested to open his luggage, which he did and as result, the officials found white parcels of Cocaine powder,” she said.
She added that the customs officials alerted the Namibian Police Force K-9 as well as the Drug Law enforcement officers.
Shikwambi indicated that the Cocaine powder was confirmed and weighed in the presence of the suspect and officials.
He is expected to appear in the Windhoek magistrate court this week.
