Police need assistance with murder case

Africa-PressNamibia. THE Namibian Police in the Oshana Region has called on the public to assist them in tracing the person or people involved in the murder of the 35-year-old Nikodemus Erastus Shikongo, whose body was discovered in the bushes next to the main road between Ondangwa and Oshikango on Saturday.

According to Community Affairs Officer, Inspector Thomas Aiyambo, it is suspected that Shikongo was murdered sometime during Friday night of Saturday because his body was found with multiple injuries.

“It is not yet clear what caused the death of Shikongo, however, the body was transported to Oshakati Police Mortuary where a postmortem examination will be performed to collect forensic clues and to determine the actual cause of death,” he said.

Aiyambo is requesting the public to assist in shedding more light on Shikongo’s death and requested any person with knowledge of what transpired before his body was discovered to contact the nearest Police Station.

When the body was initially discovered next to the busy road, bystanders thought that Shikongo’s death must have been the result of a hit and run incident. Further investigation, however, determined that he was in fact severely assaulted and that the attack must have been the cause of his death.
