Africa-PressNamibia. THE Namibian police is offering N$20 000 as reward money to anyone with information which may lead to the arrest of the suspect involved in the murder of the late police officer, Constable Talamondjila Petrus, whose remains were discovered in a decomposed state in a riverbed in Mariental.

Spokesperson of the Namibian police, Deputy Commissioner Kauna Shikwambi, said that the police force on Saturday, 21 August 2021, at around 16:50 learned with shock and disbelief that the half-decomposed body of their colleague, the 35-years-old Constable Petrus, also known as Shiponga, was found in the riverbed behind Wimpy in Mariental.

The body was discovered with a dark blue T-shirt and blue shorts. It is believers that Constable Petrus was murdered around 17 August 2021 while executing his police duties in Mariental, Hardap Region.

“The late Constable Petrus was a young and vibrant officer who had his career ahead of him, but was cold bloodedly murdered. A case of murder has been opened and is under investigation, however, there are no leads as of yet,” Shikwambi said.

Owing to this, the Namibian police has availed N$20 000 as a reward to anyone who might have concrete leads in the case. Members of the public are advised to contact Inspector Gert Boois on 081 259 8664, or take the information to their nearest police station.
