Prime Minister extends condolences to food poisoning victims

Africa-Press – Namibia. THE Prime Minister, Dr Saara Kuugongelwa-Amadhila, has extended her condolences to the Kangungu family, who recently suffered the loss of 16 family members in a food poisoning incident in the Kayova village, located in the Ndiyona Constituency of the Kavango East Region.

According to the Ministry of Health and Social Services, a total of 24 household members between the ages of 1 and 33 consumed a poisonous porridge. Investigations by the ministry have revealed that the porridge was prepared using pearl millet mahangu flour, along with a dried and pounded fermented sediment from the homemade beverage known as Mundevere. Regrettably, 16 of these individuals have since passed away as a result of the incident.

The Prime Minister expressed her condolences to the Kangungu family and conveyed her deep concern for the remaining members of the family who are currently hospitalized due to the same cause.

“We extend sincere condolences to Mr. Godfried Shishugho Kangungu family on this tragic loss, and we pray for the recovery of those who are hospitalized,” the Office of the Prime Minister added.
