Africa-Press – Namibia. CHRISTMAS came early to the head of the Omukwanyama Traditional Authority (OuTA), Meekulu Martha Mwadinomho Kristian Nelumbu, when a group of women and other well-wishers flocked to her palace at Omhedi recently and showered her with a variety of gifts.

The event was the brainchild of Hallelujah Nghidengwa, a resident of the Ongha village in Omhedi District.

Initially, she merely wanted to visit the Omhedi Palace and meet the Queen up-close, but traditionally, women do not embark on such kind of visit without taking along some sort of gift.

Nghidengwa mobilized other women who gladly welcomed the initiative.

She also roped in a number of heavyweights, such as former First Lady Penehupifo Pohamba, former chief of the Namibian Defence Force, General (RTD) Denga Ndaitwah and many other prominent Oshikwanyama-speaking personalities.

The gifts included a queen bed, a TV set, a freezer, wardrobe and a variety of expensive clothes and food.

Dr. Luise Nghiwewelekwa — also from Ongha village — used the opportunity to thank the OuTA for the scholarship that enabled her to conclude her medical studies.

The deeply religious Queen Nelumbu thanked the Creator, the source of all wisdom and all good ideas such as the initiative taken by Nghidengwa.
