Report corruption - Uerikua

Africa-Press – Namibia. OTJOZONDJUPA regional governor James Uerikua has called on inhabitants of the region to report corrupt activities to the relevant authorities.

Uerikua said this during his state of the region address at Otjiwarongo on Friday.

The governor said the region should strive to be corrupt free by upholding the values and standards of the Anti-Corruption Act.

“There is noticeable reluctance and fear to report cases of corruption to the relevant authorities by members of the public, and that is due to the fear of intimidation and victimisation by the possible perpetrators,” Uerikua said.

“I call upon you as inhabitants of the Otjozondjupa region to be able to stand up as Namibian citizens without fear or favour and report any corruption.

“The law makes provision for your protection,” he said.

Uerikua said the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) is not only there to pursue perpetrators, but also to train and build capacity through creating awareness.
