Africa-Press – Namibia. THE Minister of Urban and Rural Development, Sankwasa James Sankwasa, has called on all relevant stakeholders involved in the Groot Aub water supply issue to expedite their efforts and ensure the uninterrupted provision of water without further delay.
He made these remarks during a courtesy meeting with the Mayor of Windhoek, Ndeshihafela Larandja, during which they discussed key urban development concerns, including the formalisation of informal settlements, the sanitation situation within these areas, land identification and access, as well as the water supply challenges in Groot Aub.
During the meeting, Sankwasa underscored the pressing need to address these challenges—particularly those relating to sanitation, land acquisition, and water provision in Groot Aub. He assured the Mayor of his full support, along with that of his Ministry, to ensure that resources are used effectively to resolve these issues.
He also emphasised the vital role of local authorities in delivering essential services to residents. Calling for unity within the City Council, he urged members to set aside political differences to ensure efficient service delivery. He highlighted the importance of fulfilling commitments made to the electorate through timely and decisive action.
“Windhoek is a priority area and needs urgent attention. We should also remember that Namibia is the only country we have, and we must protect it at all costs. We are the servants of the people, not their masters,” Sankwasa added.
