Oshana governor Elia Irimari has unveiled plans to mobilise resources for the establishment of a second School of Computing in the region.

The school will be established in Ondangwa.

The region’s first school of computing was built at Oshakati in 2022.

It is geared to encourage learners to feel at home in sciences, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics.

Calling on all stakeholders to collaborate in making this crucial educational development a reality, Irimari said investment into education cannot be overemphasised.

He said this while addressing the annual regional performance and enhancement prize and awards ceremony at Okatana Secondary School in Oshakati on Friday.

“The school is earmarked for Ondangwa. We hope more stakeholders will come on board and join us in making sure that this school becomes a reality. As a region, let us commit to strengthening our investment in education, arts and culture. Let us build schools that reflect our national vision and aspirations,” he said.

He called on schools to stop introducing expensive and overly-designed school uniforms, stating that such fashion-forward attire places an unnecessary financial burden on parents.

“Uniforms should be simple, neat and nice. The economy is still not okay, and parents are affected too,” Irimari said.
