Africa-Press – Namibia. Swapo candidate Stefanus Ndengu has won the Moses //Garoëb constituency by-election after receiving 2 970 votes.
Friday’s by-election took place after the death of the former constituency councillor Aili Venonya in October last year.
Independent Patriots for Change candidate Moses Mwandingi received 1 270 votes, followed by Namibia Economic Freedom Fighters candidate Paulus Shinime Nakale with 267 votes.
Independent candidate Moses Hengobe received 243 votes with fellow independent candidate Kleopas Ndalifilwa Hashoongo receiving 72 votes.
According to Electoral Commission of Namibia returning officer Rakondjerua Kavari 42 000 voters were registered to vote, but only 4 822 votes were recorded.
There were 41 083 voters registered for the 2019 election, with only 34% of these voters casting their votes in an election won by Venonya, who received 8 664 votes.
