Africa-Press – Namibia. Swapo raised N$16.2 million during the party’s 2024 party election campaign fundraising gala dinner held at the Mercure Hotel in Windhoek on Friday.

The more than 900 attendees splashed out N$1 000 per ticket or N$10 000 per table of ten people to be part of the event which was attended by business people and party members from all over the country ahead of the party’s central committee and the electoral college.

The funds were raised from the sale of portraits of Founding President Sam Nujoma and later President Hage Geingob which reached the highest prices respectively.

Grootfontein-based businessman Joseph Andreas bought the portrait of founding father Sam Nujoma for N$270 000.

Lawyer Sisa Namandje has bought a portrait of the late Hage Geingob for N$110 000 while a portrait of the late Andimba Toivo yaToivo and Swapo stalwart Ben Amathila was sold at the auction for N$26 000.
