Africa-Press – Namibia. SWAPO has retained the Ncamagoro Constituency, after candidate Thomas Rengi emerged victorious in the just concluded by-elections.
Rengi obtained a total of 923 votes, followed by Moses Nyundu, an independent candidate, with 153 votes. Frans Chimbango of the Popular Democratic Movement scored 106 votes, while Ladislaus Poroto, also an independent candidate, and Andreas Tjiwawa of Independent Patriots for Change, scored 79 and 29 votes respectively.
A total of 15 ballot papers were rejected, while 1 268 votes were counted. The residents of the Ncamagoro Constituency went to the polling stations to vote for a replacement for the late Swapo councillor, Johannes Sikondo, who died in September.
