Africa-Press – Namibia. THE Roads Authority (RA) has temporarily closed a section of the B1 road between Windhoek and Okahandja after the bypass at the Swartz River Bridge near Osona Village was washed away by recent heavy rains.

According to the RA, the affected section has been closed to all traffic with immediate effect and until further notice in the interest of public safety. The closure applies to all road users, including residents of Osona Village.

Motorists are advised to use the dual carriageway as an alternative route while assessments and remedial measures are underway. The RA, in collaboration with relevant stakeholders, is currently evaluating the extent of the damage and will provide regular updates as the situation develops.

The authority has also urged road users to exercise extreme caution during rainy conditions by reducing speed, maintaining safe following distances and avoiding driving through flooded or water-covered roads.
