Africa-Press – Namibia. HER love for boxing inspired Ondangwa-based fashion designer, Martha Auala, who co-owns Taleniko’s Creation, to sponsor boxing apparel to the Bulelo Boxing Academy.
Auala explained that she met the owner of the academy, Hedison Nghipondoka, better known as Bulelo, at several boxing occasions and was inspired by what he is doing in developing the sport.
In 2020, Auala promised to sponsor the team, however, every time the team approached her to make true on her promise, she found herself unprepared. The academy recently took part in the boxing match in Windhoek organised by the MTC Nestor Sunshine Club.
Auala, who was aware of the match, said she was once again reminded that she had promised to sponsor the academy, and made available boxing tracksuits and several shorts.
“I don’t give because I have a lot, but my God-given talent allows me to make some money and to share in the benefits with the rest,” she said.
Nghipondoka, on the part of the academy, said the donation is welcomed and is a great gesture from Taleniko’s Creation. “They didn’t just look at professional boxers, but also amateur boxers that we are currently grooming,” said Nghipondoka.
He noted that for the next two to three years, they won’t have to worry about boxing outfits and can rather focus on soliciting funds to buy gloves, punching bags for the boxers and other training items.
