Africa-Press – Namibia. THE Honeycomb Pro Cycling team made their presence felt at the Tour de Windhoek in the individual as well as team categories after the Team Time Trial at the Tony Rust Race Track on Friday evening.
Honeycomb Pro won the team time trial in convincing fashion in a time of 22 minutes 2 seconds, while TEG Procycling Team came second, 45 seconds behind, and Team Megatech Elite third in 22:57.
Honeycomb are now nearly a minute ahead of TEG Procycling in the team rankings, with overall times of 8:18:53 and 8:19:42 respectively, while Megatech Elite are third in 8:22:53. They are followed by Simonis Storm powered by Hollard (8:23:21) and NCCS (8:24:22).
Rickardo Broxham of Honeycomb Pro retained the lead in the general classification with an overall time of 3:00:29, but his team mate Marc Pritzen moved into second place, one second behind, while Tristan Cuthbert of TEG Procycling dropped down to third position in 3:01:14.
They are followed by Brandon Downes of Teg Procycling (3:01:17) and Travis Barrett of Honeycomb Pro (3:01:59). Mannie’s Bike Mecca Ladies won the women’s Team Time Trial in 19:43, followed by Food Lovers Market Ladies (20:05) and Hollard Ladies (21:55), but Food Lovers Market still have a healthy lead in the team rankings with an overall time of 7:51:34.
MBM Ladies are second more than five minutes behind in 7:56:42 and Cymot Ladies third in 8:06:41. Vera Looser of MBM remains in front in the general classification in a time of 2:49:58, with team mate Courtney Liebenberg second, 10 seconds behind and Melissa Hinz of Food Lover’s Market third in 2:50:22.
