Africa-Press – Namibia. TO better the lives of the unemployed, vulnerable, disabled and youth in the area, the Otjinene constituency council delivered small stock and vegetable seeds to ten households on Wednesday.
Constituency councillor Erwin Katjizeu said this is to assist the beneficiaries in bettering their living conditions. The government project is aimed at self sustainability by helping communities produce their own food and create an income.
“Since most of the animals are females, the small stock will multiply quickly and provide financial relief. One goat is worth N$2 500 which is quite a good price. Selling or trading the offspring can contribute to the livelihood of the community,” Katjizeu said. The constituency office will monitor and evaluate the animals to ensure the beneficiaries make the most of the project, he said.
