Africa-Press – Namibia. A SHACK fire has yet again caused devastation, this time claiming the lives of a three-year-old boy and his 88-year-old grandmother in Okombahe. According to Erongo police inspector Ileni Shapumba, neighbours of the victims in the settlement on the Omaruru River reportedly tried to rescue little Bernard Nadile Khaniseb and his grandmother Theresia Tsamases after their zinc house caught fire on Friday around 23:50.
The fire was, however, too strong and both victims were burned to death. The shack and all their belongings were destroyed. The bodies were taken to the mortuary of the Okombahe State Clinic. Shapumba said the next of kin have been informed and police investigations continue.
