Africa-Press – Namibia. TransNamib and the Namibia Transport and Allied Workers Union (Natau) have signed an agreement to increase employees’ salaries, following a more than two-week-long strike by workers of the transport parastatal.

Depending on their job level, TransNamib employees will be receiving salary increases of 3,5%, 4,5% or 5,5%, in terms of the agreement.
This was announced in a statement by TransNamib spokesperson Abigail Raubenheimer on Friday.
Raubenheimer said the agreement would cover more than 1 200 employees at TransNamib and bring an end to the current industrial action.
“Also as part of the agreement, workers will receive a N$100 increase on transport allowance, from N$542 to N$642 per month for members in the bargaining unit,” Raubenheimer said.
A majority of TransNamib employees voted in favour of a strike after salary negotiations came to a deadlock, with TransNamib saying it did not have funds for pay rises.
