Africa-Press – Namibia. The Minister of Works and Transport John Mutorwa has in terms of Section 73 (1) (a) and (b) of the Road Traffic and Transport Act. 1999 (Act No 22 of 1999) temporarily prohibited the transiting of trucks above 5 tonnes to use the B2 Trunk Road between Swakopmund and Walvis Bay.
All trucks above five tonnes are required to use the C-34 Road, which is the road east of the dunes (Dune 7 Road-C34) as the alternative road. This is to avoid road congestion and road accidents during the festive season. This prohibition is with effect from 19th November 2021 until the 31 st January 2022.
