Two arrested after dead man found in freezer

Africa-Press – Namibia. TWO suspects have been arrested after a dead man was found in an unplugged freezer in Katutura. The decomposed body of 22-year-old Angolan citizen Levi Kondjeni Mutundu Paulus was found in a freezer at the Okamuinyo Bar in Herero Mall on Sunday.

A bad smell prompted a cousin to the late Paulus to investigate the cause, which lead to the gruesome discovery. Deputy Commissioner Kauna Shikwambi, Head of Nampol’s Public Relations Division, said the police were alerted on Sunday around midnight.

Paulus was reportedly last seen by his cousin on Friday, 29 October, around 20:00, doing business at the Okamuinyo Bar. “It is alleged that the deceased slept in the Okamuinyo Bar alone on Friday night while his cousin went to sleep in a different bar about three metres away,” Shikwambi said.

The cousin allegedly did not go to Paulus nor saw him on Saturday or Sunday. The next time he saw him was when he discovered the body. The bar belongs to Tjandjeua Tomo who is currently in Opuwo in the Kunene Region.

He had instructed Paulus to look after the bar when they stopped operating last month due to stock shortages. The suspects, aged 22 and 35 years old, are expected to appear in court today or tomorrow.
