UDF targets youth for 2024 elections

Africa-Press – Namibia. THE United Democratic Front held a regional caucus conference at Swakopmund on Saturday as part of its efforts to create a stronger, more vibrant and prosperous party in the Erongo region.

The caucus conference stemmed from the United Democratic Front (UDF)’s post-mortem after the 2020 local and regional elections, where the members resolved to revive all 14 regional branches by closely engaging members at the section and district levels.

During the post-mortem, the youth league was tasked to initiate strategies aimed at reviving these branches, as the UDF is also seeking the youth vote in the upcoming 2024 elections.

Party president Apius !Auxab said the resolutions adopted at the caucus conference must respond best to the contemporary political dynamics of the times and must help the party become and remain relevant in an ever-transforming political environment.

!Auxab blamed the current face of destruction in the party on party members pushing selfish agendas, insulting leadership, backstabbing, and influencing positive members of the party negatively.

“This remains a fundamental problem in the party. Therefore, let us use this opportunity to reverse this habit that has indoctrinated members in this party and has poisoned the growth of the party by creating a harmonious environment and conditions for party members and future leaders,” said !Auxab.

The conference elected a regional steering committee to oversee the implementation of resolutions taken, which include the election of all branch executive committee members by December and training them to build capacity.
