Uutoni officially launches Oshikuku expo

Africa-Press – Namibia. MINISTER of Urban and Development Erastus Uutoni officially opened the fourth edition of the Oshikuku Annual Expo.

Uutoni said the hosting of the annual expo is indeed a noble gesture from the youth leadership in the Omusati Region, and Oshikuku in particular, to ensure that all young people gather to showcase potential and talent to the rest of the country.

Uutoni stated that the young people possess many of the characteristics of the modern entrepreneur that have been identified by leading economists and social scientists.

These characteristics, he indicated, include vision, enthusiasm, passion, flexibility, determination and resilience.

According to him, young people are central for being both drivers and beneficiaries towards the attainment of Vision 2030 as well as the Global Agenda for Sustainable Development.

“In that connection, this youth initiative as founded in 2017, is aimed at create an enabling environment to encourage and support aspiring entrepreneurial youth in Oshikuku to develop and execute business ideas that will lead to job creation,” he said.

He added that the current high rate of youth unemployment, the world economic downturn and Covid-19 has had a negative impact on the lives of many young people in the struggle to secure employment.

Uutoni noted that despite the challenges that they might face as a nation, he strongly believes that the future of Namibia is very bright and exciting.

He emphasised that the world is constantly changing, with new opportunities emerging all the time and the true entrepreneur will make full use of them.

Uutoni stressed that Namibians can be assured that the government will continue to provide the support and guidance that young people need at all times.
