Africa-Press – Namibia. PARTS of the Ohangwena Region face drastic water scarcity that requires urgent solutions at a “business unusual” tempo, said Governor Kadiva Hamutumwa as she continued with her familiarisation tours to constituencies.
When she visited the recently rehabilitated earth dam at Odibo in the Oshikango Constituency, she said the dam had stored a large amount of water during the rainy season, enough for both animal and domestic use.

She added that one of the regional government’s priorities is to rehabilitate more earth dams, especially in the flood-prone areas of the region.
She said that the dam rehabilitation should be done cost-effectively, “by us, for us,” in order to develop local capacity, increase the knowledge pool, and circulate money in the local economy.
The governor pointed out that with water availability, a lot can be achieved, including food production and the elimination of hunger.
