Africa-Press – Namibia. THE construction of a water tower at Ondangwa once completed will improve water issues for many residents. The bulk water storage facility constructed to the tune of over N$7.1 million will benefit residents of Extensions 24, 25, 26 and Uupopo.

According to town spokesperson Petrina Shitalangaho-Mutikisha, the move was essential because residents have been seriously affected by water interruptions especially when there is a power outage or major pipe breakdowns.

“The facility will improve the water pressure in those areas and serve as storage in times of water interruptions.” She said it will also ease the pressure from other storage facilities in town that have been supplying water to Extensions 24, 25, 26 and Uupopo.

The tender for the construction was awarded to Valomek Civil Cc JV Mawila Technical Services cc on 16 March 2022. The facility should be completed by 20 August 2022.

Shitalangaho-Mutikisha said Council will continue looking into ways how to improve water storage in town, as many residents are often affected by water interruptions.

“As funds become available, more can be done.” Shitalangaho-Mutikisha urged all municipal account holders to settle their dues on time for continuous service provision.
