Africa-Press – Namibia. THE World Food Programme Namibia will be hosting a regional country directors’ leadership meeting at the Kalahari Anib Lodge in the Hardap region from 26 to 29 October.

According to an itinerary issued by the World Food Programme Namibia (WFP), participating at the strategic engagement will be WFP’s assistant executive directors and directors, country directors from the southern Africa region, as well as senior officials and subject matter experts.

“The purpose of this meeting is to facilitate knowledge exchange. Various sessions will address a range of topics, including food systems, digitalisation, e-commerce, data analysis and evidence building, United Nations reform, emergency response, resource mobilisation and strategic partnership, and government engagement,” said WFP.

Deputy prime minister and minister of international relations Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah will deliver the keynote address on Tuesday morning, while Hardap governor Salomon April will give the welcoming remarks.

WFP country representative for Namibia George Fedah is also expected to address the three-day gathering. Several topics are lined up for discussion, including sustainable food systems, enhancing government engagement, innovative resource mobilisation, leading in emergencies and food systems in practice.

The country directors are also expected to tour the Roots Farming project at Stampriet in the region to gain a practical understanding of how an end-to-end food system is applied.
