Africa-Press – Namibia. Thousands of WhatsApp users have suffered a major setback after the messaging platform permanently removed the application on some smartphones. The removal of the app, which was effected Monday, November 1, will see over 40 mobile phone brands become incompatible with the latest updates.

“WhatsApp will no longer support Android phones running on OS 4.0.4 and older starting November 1, 2021,” their message read.

“For the best experience, we recommend you use the latest version of OS available for your phone,” the message added.

The move implies that anyone without a supported device will no longer be able to send messages, make video calls, share documents, access photos or even videos using this encrypted messaging app.
