Africa-Press – Namibia. THE Electricity Control Board (ECB) has approved the tariff application made by the Municipal Council of Windhoek to implement an average electricity tariffs increase of 3.4% for the 2021/2022 financial year.
A press statement from the City of Windhoek (CoW) confirmed that the increase follows a 2.92 bulk electricity tariff increase by bulk power supplier, NamPower in July 2021. The cost of electricity generally includes power-generation costs, as well as transmission and distribution costs, the statement explains.
Generation costs comprise primary energy, electricity imports, electricity supply from local independent power producers, the operation and maintenance of power plants, overheads and asset-related costs. The electricity tariffs adjustment notice effective from 1 September 2021 is for the 2021/2022 financial year.
