Africa-Press – Namibia. THE third edition of the annual Wodibo Haulofu Sports Tournament kicks off tomorrowed off today.

The tournament, which is scheduled to take place from 21 to 23 April 2023, intends to resurrect school sports.

The tournament will cost about N$46 000, according to Phillip “Wetu” Lazarus, the organiser of school sports.

Due to the coronavirus outbreak, the event, which was first hosted in 2019, was postponed in 2020–2021.

Lazarus said, “We want to bring out all young sports enthusiasts, focusing primarily on school learners.”

He indicated that they have three sport codes lined up, such as soccer, netball and volleyball.

In the Senior Soccer Category, the winner will walk away with N$4 000, a floating trophy and gold medals.

The second runner-up will scoop N$3 200 and silver medals, the third place winner will get N$2 500 and bronze medals, while the fourth place will get N$1 900.

In the Junior Soccer Category, the winner will get N$2 500, a floating trophy and gold medals. Second place will get N$1 500 and silver medals, while third place will get N$1 000 and bronze medals.

Meanwhile, in the Senior Netball Category, the winner will scoop N$1 500, a floating trophy and gold medals. The second runner-up will get N$1 200 and silver medals, while the third place winner will get N$800 and bronze medals.

In the Junior Netball Category, the winner will walk away with N$1 200, a floating trophy and gold medals. Second place will get N$800 and silver medals, while third place winner will get N$800 and bronze medals.

With regards to the volleyball sport code, which is being introduced for the first time, Lazarus said that the winner will get N$650, a floating trophy and gold medals. The second place will get N$400 and silver medals, while third place winner will walk away with N$300 and bronze medals.
