Africa-Press – Namibia. A 33-year-old woman survived a crocodile attack that left her seriously injured at Thipanana village in the Mukwe constituency.

Ministry of environment spokesperson Romeo Muyunda said the incident happened on Friday.

Muyunda said the victim, Lufrensia Nangura Kayunde, was rushed to the Andara Health Centre for treatment but was later transferred to the Rundu State Hospital for further medical attention.

“We just want to caution our people living close to the rivers that as the water continues to rise, predators and other dangerous animals will be on the move. Lets be cautious when using the rivers for our daily livelihoods needs,” cautioned the ministry’s spokesperson.

It is alleged that the woman went to the river to fetch water when she was attacked.

Fortunately, she wrestled the reptile and with the help of onlookers managed to be saved from its jaws.
