THE acting chairperson of the Council of Traditional Leaders, Gaob Immanuel #Ni-Axa/Gaseb, has taken a swipe at traditional leaders who he says are embroiled in constant infighting rather than focusing on enhancing the moral values and cultures of their people.

/Gaseb, who was speaking during the 23rd annual meeting of the Council of Traditional Leaders at Eenhana in the Ohangwena region on Monday, said the Namibian society has become immoral and evil.

“Hardly a week goes by without the media reporting of women and children being killed, raped and babies dumped. Our traditional authorities are also to blame, as most of the time we concentrate on infighting rather than enhancing the moral values of our cultures. Is it because of unknown spiritual faith within our society or is it because there is no law and order?” he questioned.

/Gaseb urged traditional leaders to instil moral values in their communities to fight against unbecoming behaviours such as gender-based violence.

“I would like to thank those who convene cultural festivals annually to restore our moral, cultural ethics that do not allow us to engage in immoral acts,” said /Gaseb.
