Africa-Press – Nigeria. A top member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State, Mallam Alwan Hassan, says he believes the party will defeat the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) in the 2027 governorship election.

Hassan, who previously served as a Special Adviser to former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, told journalists in Abuja that the APC is already strengthening its structures and bringing key political figures together ahead of the polls.

He said Kano must realign with the centre for faster development.

He added that: “Just wait and see. APC will take over Kano in 2027.”

Hassan also publicly withdrew an earlier allegation that senators collected a $10m bribe to stop the confirmation of Engr. Ramat Abdullahi as chairman of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC).

“I fully retract that statement and offer my sincere apologies to the National Assembly and its leadership,” he said.

He appealed to lawmakers to go ahead and confirm Ramat Abdullahi, as recommended by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
