Africa-Press – Nigeria. Human rights lawyer, Maxwell Opara, has said that the pro-Biafra leader, Nnamdi Kanu has suffered highest injustice in the entire world.
Opara made the assertion on Friday in an interview on Arise Television monitored. He insisted that Kanu is not a terrorist as being painted.
His comment is coming against the backdrop of the conviction and sentencing of Kanu to life imprisonment.
Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court, Abuja, on Thursday sentenced Nnamdi Kanu to life imprisonment after being convicted on all seven counts of terrorism filed against him.
Reacting, Opara said, “The people Southeast know that Nnamdi Kanu is not a criminal, he’s not a terrorist. I want to commend them for that.
“I want to call all well-meaning Nigerians to join hands and wade into this matter so that the Court of Appeal will set aside this judgment.
“I have to tell you that as at yesterday when the judgment was given, there in America where our delegates were meeting with the US Congress, one of the Congressmen raised this issue and highlighted the kind of injustice Nnamdi Kanu has suffered in the hands of Nigeria as if the man is a Nigerian.
“So, sometimes when we are talking, these people get information more than you. Nnamdi Kanu has suffered the highest injustice than any other person in the whole world.
“He was in his house enjoying himself, the Federal Government who is prosecuting him went to his house unprovoked and killed 38 persons.”
