Two Police Officers Arrested in Adamawa for Misconduct

Africa-Press – Nigeria. The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested two of its officers over what it described as unprofessional conduct.

The command said the two were picked up upon receipt of a report of unacceptable display by some police personnel deployed to a nipping point attached to Jimeta Divisional police headquarters, who were on duty along River Side, Jimeta.

“Preliminary findings revealed that the officers stopped a Mercedes 180 for routine search, during which the occupants resisted,” the command said in a statement passed to newsmen by RO Suleiman Ngruroje.

According to the statement, “In the course of the encounter, one of the officers behaved in a way prejudicial to discipline by firing gun shots at the vehicle’s tyres, an act considered unnecessary and unprofessional. However, No injuries were recorded.”

The statement disclosed that the officers involved have been arrested and taken into custody.

“The Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, has ordered a thorough investigation into the incident. The Command assures members of the public that appropriate disciplinary measures will be taken upon completion of the investigation,” the command concluded.
