Africa-Press – Nigeria. The General Overseer of the Goshen Freedom Tabernacle,GFT, in Delta State, Prophet Austin Ariole, has asked the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN to stop issuing symbolic prayers without strategic action.
Prophet Ariole said, who made the call in a message to the CAN leadership and the political class on Monday, warned that prayers without responsibility is religion, not spirituality.
The Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, had called for a nationwide prayer over the insecurity in the country but the Cleric said instead of prayers, the association should “set up a high-level security and advocacy committee.”
According to him, “This committee must engage the President, Governors, Service Chiefs, and national security stakeholders directly not through press statements, but through structured dialogue.
“Mobilize the vast resources of the Nigerian church. God did not bless the church in Nigeria by accident. Our numbers, institutions, finances, and influence should be deployed for community protection, civic engagement, and grassroots security awareness.
“Lead the church into righteous living. Angels are not inactive by weakness they are hindered by the widespread immorality and corruption that has crept into the church from top to bottom. Judgment must begin in the house of God.”
Prophet Ariole also said politicians should stop pretending the situation is under control. He said, “Nigerians are being killed daily. Silence is complicity.
He said the political class should also,”Prioritize security above politics. Elections and power calculations mean nothing when citizens are dying.
“Reform and modernize the security architecture. Equip and support our forces, invest in intelligence, and dismantle the networks enabling terrorism.
“Engage religious and community leaders sincerely. Security is not achieved by force alone; it requires collaboration and honesty.”
Prophet Ariole said, “The daily killings of innocent Nigerians are no longer just statistics they are a national tragedy. There is an ancient wisdom that says, ‘a stitch in time saves nine.’ When we fail to take responsibility early, the consequences multiply.”
“That is exactly where we are as a nation today. Let us be sincere. Christianity is the largest faith group in Nigeria, yet we have allowed jihadists, bandits, and terrorists to overrun communities, destroy farmlands, abduct citizens, and shed innocent blood.
“This is not a prayer problem alone; this is also a leadership problem—both spiritual and political.
“Some ministers are busy publicly cursing herdsmen and terrorists, yet they, themselves move around in bulletproof cars and are guarded by heavily armed police and military escorts.
“That is double standards. It sends a confusing message to the flock. God has given us spiritual weapons, but He has also given us physical responsibility.
“David did not confront Goliath with fasting alone; he carried a sling and a stone. Nehemiah prayed, but he also set watchmen on the walls. Even Jesus told His disciples, “He that has no sword, let him sell his garment and buy one. Therefore, the church must stop portraying helplessness.”
