Oyibode Declares Dusk-to-Dawn Curfew in Oghior

Africa-Press – Nigeria. The chairman of Udu Local Government Council, Olorogun Vincent Oyibode, has imposed a dusk-to-dawn (6 pm to 6 am) curfew in Oghior Community. The curfew takes immediate effect.

The order follows a series of escalating crises in the community, which led to the destruction of properties, with several houses razed.

The directive imposing the curfew is contained in a statement issued by Comrade Henry Ubus, Chief Press Secretary to the Council Chairman.

Oyibode directed all security agencies operating within the local government to shoot on sight any individual or group found with illegal weapons or attempting to instigate further breakdown of law and order.

He said the action became necessary to prevent further escalation of the crisis, restore peace, and safeguard innocent lives and property.

“The protection of lives and property remains the primary responsibility of government, and my administration will not watch criminals plunge Oghior or any part of Udu into unrest,” he stated.

He also urged residents of Oghior Community to remain calm, obey the curfew directives, and cooperate fully with security personnel deployed to the area.

He further assured the public that Udu Local Government Council, in collaboration with relevant security formations, will continue to monitor the situation until peace and normalcy return.
