Africa-Press – Nigeria. Super Eagles head coach, Eric Chelle, has declared that his team’s ambition is to beat Mozambique to a place in the quarter-finals at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
Chelle also accepted that his team is under pressure to avoid upset in the Round of 16 encounter.
The three-time champions so far have an hundred percent record in the competition, winning all three group games.
The last time the Super Eagles won all three group games at the AFCON (2021) , they were eliminated by Tunisia in Round of 16.
The West Africans are desparate to avoid similar experience this time around.
Chelle said they are desperate to achieve victory in the game.
The Malian said it is important to win their upcoming game before thinking about the quarter-final.
“We want to win the next game. If God gives us the chance to go to the quarterfinal, we will think about the quarterfinal,” Chelle told a press conference.
“But now we think about this game against Mozambique and for sure we want to win this game. To answer your question, yeah we are under pressure.”
