Africa-Press – Nigeria. Troops of the 4 Brigade, Benin City, have rescued two female kidnap victims in Auchi, Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo State.

Captain Kennedy Anyanwu, Assistant Director of Army Public Relations, disclosed this in a statement made available to newsmen on Monday, March 30, 2026, in Benin City.

Kennedy said the female victims identified as Odio Momoh, aged 17, and Sonia Momoh, aged 23, were rescued by troops in conjunction with personnel of the Nigerian Army School of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering, NASEME, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, the Nigeria Police Force and local vigilantes.

“On March 27, 26, troops received a distress call on the kidnapping of two girls, namely Odio Momoh, aged 17, and Sonia Momoh, aged 23, from a house behind the fence of Nigerian Army School of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering (NASEME) in Auchi, Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo State.

“Immediately, troops of 4 Brigade in conjunction with troops of NASEME, and Vigilantees initiated pursuit into the bush and towards the kidnappers’.

“Consequently, at about 28 Mar 26, on noticing that they were almost encircled, the criminals abandoned the victims and fled. The victims were rescued and subsequently reunited with their families,” the statement said.

the victims were rescued at about 8:30 pm.

It was learnt that the joint security team trailed the kidnappers into the bush along their withdrawal route.

It was also gathered that operations are ongoing to track down the fleeing suspects and dismantle their criminal network in the area.
